Need to get a few miles in before you celebrate Dad on Sunday? Or maybe you have been looking for a way to support those in their recovery journey through physical fitness? Either way, Wellspring Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services has a perfect option for you.
Walk or run to sign up now online for Wellspring’s 5k Race for Recovery. The race starts on the Bangor Waterfront, this Sunday, June 19 at 10 a.m. Your entrance fee of $20 per runner or $40 for a family/group of three or more will help pay for treatment for uninsured clients.
Wellspring’s race committee has lined up a ton of great prices for top runners and walkers including a $100 gift certificate from Epic Sports for the top male racer and $100 from Cadillac Mountain Sports for the top female racers. There will also be a raffle for a paddle board. The biggest win of all – ice cream. The Darling’s Ice Cream Truck will be on-site and all of the proceeds from ice cream treats sold will donated to Wellspring to support treatment.
Can’t make it on Sunday, but you still want to be part of the event? Please consider making a donation at https://www.gofundme.com/raceforrecovery.
The 5k Race for Recovery is in memory of Garrett Brown, a young man from Augusta, who let the Bangor Daily News chronicle his life for two-and-a-half years. He died in November 2015 after overdosing on heroin.
