New Vermont Campaign Aims to Tackle Young Adult Opiate Abuse

The Rescue Agency and the Vermont Department of Health have created a campaign called, “Over the Dose,” which targets young adults, with the goal of Reducing Recreational and Misuse of Prescription Pain Relievers among this vulnerable population.

The website states that, “Despite opioid misuse becoming an epidemic, many young adults lack understanding about the risks involved with recreational opioid use. From athletes who began using for an injury to young adults who use to get high, our research shows that young adults perceive opioids to be “safe” because they come from a doctor even if they weren’t prescribed. Over The Dose changes this perception by clearly communicating how dangerous and addictive opioids can be to young adults (18-25).”
